MiamiHeaTweet up to date offseason summary.

The 2018 offseason is well underway with major moves being made across the league. Most teams have been involved in some way. While the Miami Heat’s roster remains virtually unchanged.

The Heat have 12 guaranteed contracts for next season and are a hefty 25mil over the cap.

The Mid level exception is still available. It has been reported that its on the table for Dwyane Wade, and should remain there until he’s ready to make a decision. With rumors of a big offer from China, expect his situation to drag out a little longer. I do think he’ll be locked in to come back!

If Wade does decide to return, Udonis Haslem would most definitely be suiting up for his 16th season.

Leaving 1 minimum contract and a two way contract left to offer any available players.

There have been trade rumors circulating all offseason. Mainly involving Tyler Johnson and Hassan Whiteside. Who own the 2 largest contracts on the team for the upcoming season, earning 19mil (Tyler) and 24mil (Hassan) each.

Johnson’s contract is going to be a hard one to move. With 2 years remaining on his deal, and not making the progress this season we thought he would after a promising 16-17 season. It would take at a minimum, attaching a first round draft pick for a team to consider taking Johnson for an expiring contract.

By reports, teams have had some interest in Hassan Whiteside. But nothing that has gained the interest of the Heat.

Hassan had a troublesome start to the season battling a knee injury, and his fitness looked to be affected by the interrupted start. Pat Riley isn’t going to trade Whiteside just for the sake of it. it was only a year ago Whiteside was in the conversation for Defensive player of the year.

If he’s able to regain that form he would be an integral part of the team next season.

Dion Waiters and James Johnson are another two, who’s names have been linked with trades. With no news of any interest. Dion is a player I think we need to hold on to.

The Heat brass would be working hard behind the scenes to upgrade this roster in any way possible.

If an all star type player becomes available, expect the Heat to go all in… for the right player!

Should their attempts in upgrading the roster fail, extra playing time, in my opinion should go to Josh Richardson, Bam Adebayo, Justise Winslow and Derrick Jones Jr to further there development and focus on the future.

Our path isn’t quite clear at the moment, as the season approaches hopefully we have a fair idea of where we are headed. With HeatNation divided on their view of what direction we should take. One thing is very clear, HeatNation want improvement!
